Report: Women in Non-Playing Roles in Sport

What are the current challenges of women in sport?

How can we better support women in non-playing roles?

Women exist in sport outside of playing roles: coaching, sports science, officiating, governance, administration and media… And the structural, cultural and safeguarding barriers when accessing and progressing in those roles also need to be addressed – despite growing participation, the evidence demonstrates that non-playing roles remain shaped by persistent gendered inequalities.

We produced this report as written evidence for the UK Parliament’s Women and Equalities Committee, and it is amongst the 51 published documents calling for better support for women and girls in sport.
