The Football Association
Built the world’s first integrated female health framework in football across the Women’s Super League, National Leagues and grassroots games- shaping the future of support for millions of women and girls.
Challenge
To create a comprehensive framework that would embed female-specific health and wellbeing at every level of football, supporting players with their unique needs such as menstrual health, breast support, and maternity.
What we did
Conducted the State of Play report, surveying 160+ staff and players to identify systemic gaps that led to the creation of the FootballHER CPD – mandatory training on menstrual health, pelvic health, fuelling, injury resilience and kit. We also developed initiatives for the National Leagues and grassroots.
Result
Embedded female health across English football, from grassroots to the WSL, creating long-term, female-centric infrastructure, training coaches, staff and medical professionals with evidence-based tools, improving confidence and cultural change. Positive change was reported by over 80% of staff and 75% of players.

“The creation of the FAHL role and the CPD course has fostered a more open environment within clubs, making discussions around female athlete health common. Staff now feel they ‘have the language for it’ and are more confident in addressing female-specific health needs.”
