Description

Want to know more about female-centric training but don’t know where to start? Start here.
The Female Body Course covers everything you’ve ever wondered, feared or been too embarrassed to ask. All evidence-based, this is knowledge you can bank and practical actions you can use now.

Women’s sport and health have never been this high up the agenda. Unfortunately, the science underpinning most female best-practice is limited. And limiting.

Best-practice for active women is based on generations of research on men. Skewed messages set active women off-course from school-age on. We’re here to get us on track.

This course starts you on the journey to greater understanding in female health and reversing generations of half-truths and biases. No guesswork, no egos, no taboos.

This course helps all those working with women to better understand the female mind and body. We discuss myths, challenges and gaps in understanding. This is ground zero for raising awareness, slashing taboos and getting an edge in participation and performance.

Course Modules

1. Women in Sport

The opening module sets the ‘why’ of the whole course. It highlights gender gaps in data, opportunity and performance. It focuses on the importance of the female body and shows how dismissing the female experience can limit her performance and underserve her potential.

2. Menstrual Cycle and Performance

In this comprehensive guide to the menstrual cycle we explain how it regulates, affects and impacts active women. This hugely practical module develops coaches’ understanding so you can start conversations and integrate effective new strategies – such as cycle tracking – into your work.

3. Kit for female bodies

This module highlights how kit, which should enable enjoyment, participation and performance, can be a massive barrier to all of the above. Poor kit choices can cause shame, pain, and disillusionment among active women. So let us guide you through kit, and the gamechanger that is the sports bra.

4. Nutrition for Active Women

Good fuel is essential and this module offers nutrition advice tailored to active females’ physiology. Here we guide coaches through the complex ways women relate to food and their bodies, with actionable ways you, the coach, can promote positivity and body-confidence.

5. Injury Risk and Resilience

This module explores female-specific injury risks with successful practical prevention strategies you can embrace. We cover the need to design new sporting environments to further reduce risk and that, without action, one of women’s most precious assets – the brain – is especially vulnerable.

6. Pelvic Health in Active Women

An underappreciated body nucleus, this module offers vital and liberating information about women’s bladders, bowels and pelvic floors. This is how to coach women to engage their pelvic floors and recognise risks. And how you can incorporate pelvic exercise effectively in your work.

7. Environment for Active Women

Using all information, ideas and reflection from previous modules, number 7 brings it all together. This is everything: culture and kit, mind and body, menstrual cycles, injury and pelvic floors. This is confidence to effectively support female athletes and Act Braver in all future conversations.

Great course so far. I thought I knew a lot about this subject already. But the way you teach this, and with new research, I am learning a lot more. Thank you.

  5. Karen Nicol

It was really brilliant, the content and the delivery were excellent. I’ve just bought the menopause one to do next. Keep doing what you are doing ladies, it’s so important we educate people that female athletes are very different from males.

  6. Anonymous

Super informative and really enjoyed it. Enjoyed the mixture of practical as well as spoken videos. The only feedback I have is it would be great if there was a setting on the videos where the watcher can set the playback speed, just as some people find it easier to pay attention to videos that are faster-paced.

  7. kate.ford

This course is thought-provoking and informative. It equips coaches to better support female athletes and clients.

Where is the button to award this course a 6th star ???
The whole course has been simply transformational from start to completion … with the journey ahead to apply the insights being one I am looking forward to.
The modules were extremely comprehensive, and the combination of presentations and infographics (along with the Female Body Bible book, of course) means I now feel more fully equipped to support the women and girls in sport that I am around in my paid employment #FemaleFocusInFE and volunteer role within British American Football. Injury prevention, and specifically brain protection, has been the biggest a-ha moment for me, and it’s allowed me to try out and promote the Rezon Halo headwear across multiple sports and within my College.
Thank you, Emma, Baz, Bella and all at The Well HQ.

  9. Katie Smith

What a brilliant course! I’m about to open my own small group personal training gym and I feel so much more well equipped now to support the women I will train. I can’t wait to share all the knowledge I have learnt about female bodies and I’m so excited to start the pre/post natal course. Thank you so much!

  10. Alexandra GOLDSTRAW

Absolutely brilliant course! Whilst some of the content wasn’t new to me, there are LOTS of fantastic discussion/ thought provoking points, tidbit takeaways and analogies, useful and interesting facts and figures and IMPORTANTLY for many considering doing this – absolutely outstanding downloadable resources. I don’t mean the sort that you look at and appreciate in the context of doing a course and then never look at again, I mean resources that you actually plan to actively use regularly to help bridge the gap between your own (if like me) geeky understanding of the science of women in sport and women who just want to know how to be the best they can be and to advocate for the best for themselves. Now I feel better prepared to help do that. THANK YOU!

  11. Sarah Pollock

I am really enjoying the course. Something I’ve been looking to do for a long time but wasn’t able to find anything like this.
